True Meaning of Christmas!

Wow! Wow!! It is Christmas!! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas to you all!!!

December has come bringing all the great joys and bliss of Christmas, and Christmas is just around the corner. But wait, what is the real meaning of Christmas? Is it the gifts and presents in and under the tree, the Christmas cards in the mailbox and e-mail, special dinners with families and friends, stockings hanging in the Christmas tree in the family room, the colourful Christmas lights and beautiful decorations inside and outside of the house, and shouts of "Merry Christmas To You" to those who are around us? Is it a period of having fun with our colleagues, having drunk so much till we all pass out? Is it a time of going last-minute Christmas shopping with our beloved ones or is it only an event of caroling through the night, singing delightful Christmas carols with the candles being held up in the air? Is it a time of hanging a bunch of mistletoe in our houses and sharing kisses with our loved ones underneath it?

Christmas is usually a time when people get together with family, dear ones and friends, spending quality time together by relaxing and enjoying the time of the year. However, Christmas can turn out to be a season of grief and sorrow for a great number of people, especially for those who have lost someone they love and for those who cannot be with their family and friends at this joyous time of Christmas for various reasons. Likewise, even though we all may want to be closer to our families at this time and have special dinner together, those special Christmas dinners may probably turn into only a desire and not a reality for some. It can also be a time of hardship and struggle for many as they cannot financially afford to buy Christmas gifts and presents for their beloved ones. For some, it is a time when there are no gifts or present to unwrap eagerly and no delicious meals on the family table to enjoy gladly.

On the other hand, Christmas is a time of great joy and a season of love, giving and sharing; indeed, we should have to realize that it is a time of God expressing His great love for all of us around the world. As we have already known, Christmas is the very season which we celebrate the birth of the Christ child and celebration of His incredible act of love. God gave His one and only son, Jesus, as His greatest gift into this world to be born in order to take away our sins. Therefore, His birth brought great joy to the world where we live in. The angles, shepherds, and three wise men all shared in the excitement of having been known about this great incident of the nativity of Jesus Christ of which the prophets had told His coming for hundreds of years ago.

Have you ever closely wondered why He did come? Why did the God send His son to this unpleasant and filthy world? He sent Jesus to us so that one day, He would be the truth, the way, love, and hope of all human beings. He had brought salvation to all of us through Jesus Christ in that while we were still sinners and would die in our sins without God’s great love. God gave His son Jesus to us to be born so that one day the wages of our sin could be paid in full for the things we have done. According to The Bible, we all are born with sin in nature. We always do the things that are not pleased to God. Throughout the sins of Adam and Eve, we all have inherited that sins in nature of which need to be cleansed. There is no other way but Jesus, who came to die on the cross for our sins, instead of letting us die with sins in hell, since he loves us, and he wants us far more than everything on earth and universe. What we need to do is just to believe in Him from the bottom of our hearts, having faith in that He died for our sins and would make us clean from every wrong as soon as we then accept that free gift of love from God.

Therefore, only in this way would we be saved, rescued, and able to get into the paradise when this life is over. We can truly be happy at Christmas at last! No matter what may be happening around us, we know that we are His children. We then become sons and daughters of God. Heaven will be our home one day. Thus, I would like you to accept this precious free gift of love from God as a Christmas present. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Let’s invite Jesus into our heart so that we will be able to have a true “Merry Christmas”. Rejoice, everyone! The joy and peace will pursue all year as you expect God for all your needs to be met. Do not forget that Jesus is the chief reason for the Christmas season! Merry Christmas To You All !!
